Sometimes it is taking an old recipe book off the shelf and flipping to any page, sometimes you search the internet to find a recipe similar to a favorite restaurant entree, and other times it can be picking up an inexpensive new cookbook at the store. Whatever it is I challenge you to try at least one new recipe a week. There will definitely be times when they bomb completely and you make pb & j's for dinner, but mostly they will coax you out of your comfort zone.
This week in the Deep South Sweets household we will be savoring:
Monday: Leftovers from our cookout Sunday night
Tuesday: Chicken Burritos*, Seasoned Black Beans, and Mexican Rice
Wednesday: Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Garlic Toast, and Steamed Green Beans
Thursday: Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin, Onion Rice, and Roasted Broccoli
Friday: Ham and Pineapple Pizza* with Chopped Balsamic Salad
Saturday: Eating snacks in the suite at the Brave's Game
Sunday: Small Group Meal: Chili, Cornbread, Salad, and Peach Crisp with Maple Cream Sauce*
* indicates a recipe I am trying for the first time
So tell me, what new recipe(s) are you going to challenge yourself to try this week? Let me know and you will be entered to win a copy of the cookbook mentioned above (if I can find another one, otherwise you will get my copy).
Giveaway ends Sunday, September 12 at 8:00pm EST

Yummmm Rachel!
ReplyDeleteI am trying the chicken pot pie empanadas this week - already have the pie crust & shredded chicken in the fridge all ready to go! And oddly enough, we are eating ham & pineapple pizza this week too - it's one of Josh's faves. Especially if you get the fresh pizza crust at Whole Foods bakery, it's absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteLooks delish!
ReplyDeleteJust tried a new recipe tonight (admittedly, all thanks to E-Mealz). We had Southwestern Chicken Salad (cool, quick, easy and yummy). It will definitely go in the Phelps' "Favorite" file.
Hehe :) We had Baja Fish Tacos with Cilantro cole slaw; Latin Chicken bake with columbian rice; Steak and Swordfish kabobs with orange and basil marinade. Tonight is leftovers and later this week is Parmesan and Eggplant souffle with Flank steak; Grilled ribeyes with bourbon baked beans (can't wait to make and try them)and parmesan asparagus; Mediteranean stuffed chicken with garlic and sea salt green beans and rice. I think that will just about do it for this week and nexts :) LOL!
ReplyDeleteI tried a new cookie recipe last night...easy peanut butter cookies. One box yellow cake mix, one cup peanut butter, 1/3 cup water and 2 eggs. Make small round balls and flatten with a fork, bake at 375 for about 10 minutes. Makes about 20 small cookies and they are very moist and chewy. Not as peanut buttery as I would have liked, but the texture was great!
ReplyDeleteTonight we are having...Talapia w/ lemon/lime butter and breadcrumbs, roasted sweet potatoes, and green salad.. yummy!
